I am perhaps best known now for my acrylic and mixed media paintings which are becoming increasingly more abstract while retaining some figurative elements.

My artistic process begins with observational drawings of natural forms, landscapes, and plants, created on-site or in his garden studio. From these starting points I explore and abstract with layers of texture, colour and mark to create works that try to express my love of landscape, plants and the natural world.

Born in 1953, I spent my childhood in the South Downs in Sussex. Though I initially pursued art studies in Chichester, Leeds, and Cardiff this was not an entirely happy experience. I gravitated instead to horticulture and built a career in gardening and later garden design in North London. It was not until around the early 2000s that I rediscovered my passion for art making. I moved with my family to Wiveton on the North Norfolk coast in 2021. It was here that the Bothy Project built a wonderful studio for me in our garden (there is photograph of the studio below).

In the past, I have also produced limited edition linocut and screen prints.

I have exhibited in both London and Norfolk, and was shortlisted for the Sir John Hurt Art Prize at the Holt Festival in 2023 and 2024. My most recent exhibition took place in December 2025 at The Allen Hall Gallery in Glandford, North Norfolk.

I am an active member of North Norfolk Open Studios. This is my page on the NNOS website
